H.O.S.E. Poker is not just as other poker casino games, but 4 popular poker variants jammed into one; commonly known as a mixed game. For this reason, developing a winning H.O.S.E. Poker strategy is more complex than a normal poker UK game.

H.O.S.E. Is made up of the following poker variants:

H = Texas Hold’em O = Omaha Hi-Lo (Eight or Better) S = Seven Card Stud E = Seven Card Stud Hi-Lo (Eight or Better)

Playing H.O.S.E. Poker is not recommended unless you are capably familiar with each of these poker variants. However, there are specific H.O.S.E. Poker strategies and tips that can be applied, related to the entire mixed game, rather than the individual poker variants within. We have listed these below.

H.O.S.E. Poker Strategy - Understanding the Sequence/Rotation

A player should quickly familiarize themselves with the way H.O.S.E. Poker is played, both in sequence and rotation. The game sequence is found in the acronym of the name - H.O.S.E = Texas Hold’em, Omaha Hi-Lo, Seven card Stud and Seven card Stud Hi-Lo. These are the games and the sequence in which they will be played. Once the sequence of Seven Card Stud Hi-Lo is completed, Texas Hold’em will begin once more. The mixed game continues in this fashion until the ring game session or tournament is completed.

The Rotation of poker variants in H.O.S.E. PKR Poker can be handled in one of three ways; by Hand, by Time or by Blind Levels. Rotation by Hand is a very fast paced game where players must pay close attention to each hand and its current poker variant. Rotation by time means the game changes after a preset amount of time (i.e. 5 minutes, 10 minutes, etc.). Rotation by blind Levels means the current game will change when the Blind Levels increase.

Make sure you are aware of the Rotation being used so that you are never confused as to which game is being played. Confusion equals mistakes, and mistakes equal losses. Practicing H.O.S.E. Poker for play money is a great way to get accustomed to the frequent change-ups in the game.

H.O.S.E. Poker Strategy - Playing Your Opponents

Poker is not just a game of playing cards, but playing your opponents. Keep a keen eye on your opponents and try to pick up on any behavioral patterns, betting patterns and other observable traits. Determine whether a player is tight or loose, if they always bluff on the Button to steal Blinds/Antes, and that sort of thing. Is a player only moving on with premium starting hands? Do they only raise with a monster hand? Do they slow play the nuts, but bet aggressively with marginal hands? If you can figure out your opponents’, you can siphon their chips into your stack regardless of your own holdings.

H.O.S.E. Poker Strategy - Changing Up Your Game Play

Just as you are trying to read your opponents, you must realize that they are doing the same thing to you. Most poker strategies will tell you to pick a specific strategy and stick to it, keeping a strict course of situational actions. When playing against very experienced players, as are often found in mixed games like H.O.S.E. Poker, you should change up your strategy from time to time. Do not let yourself become predictable. Switch between a tight and loose game, be aggressive on occasion and keep your opponents guessing.

The Full Tilt Poker story nears its end
The Full Tilt Poker story nears its end Choose your language Tuesday, Oct 11, 2011 Home > Poker Strategy > Articles > The Full Tilt Poker story nears its end by Tuesday,20 Sep 2011 Full Tilt Poker are on their way to the final crisis as controversy after controversy dogs them to the end There seems to be no end to the free fall that the once mighty poker site Full Tilt has fallen into. After Black Friday Full Tilt saw their business devastated with the loss of their American market. After making a deal with the US Department of Justice (DoJ) where they agreed to pay back their former clients in the US Full Tilt reneged claiming not to have the money. This led to them having problems with the Alderney Gambling Control Commission (AGCC) leading to their poker license being suspended and a hearing is just around the corner to find out whether their license will be renewed by the AGCC. That hearing will take place on the 19th of September and it is highly unlikely that there will even be a viable company for the license to be granted to, should the AGCC move in favour. In this train wreck of a case things have gone from bad to worse, the case on the 19th is generally presumed to be the tipping point. The lawyer for Full Tilt and the several companies who run the site has been Jeff Ifrah and his associates until now, though there has been a growing amount of rumours as to whether he continues to represent the firm which in turn has led to speculation as to whether there is any money left in the company to pay them with. After releasing a statement on their finances in August the site claimed that they had been the victims of a massive financial fraud to the tune of $42 million by one of their payment processors. They also claimed that seizures by the DoJ accounted for over $115 million. This explanation satisfied few in the industry amongst players and pundits alike who reckon that hundreds of millions of dollars have been made by the site over the years of its operation. That Full Tilt Poker currently has no money is not in dispute but what happened to all of the money is a question that has yet to be answered to the satisfaction of players who have yet to come to terms with the loss of all their money. The hearing on the 19th is stated as being public but after the hearing, held in July which was also publicised as public was quickly held behind closed doors there is little faith that the 19th of September will shed any more light on the situation.

November Nine Begin Final Preparations For WSOP Main Event Finale
The World Series of Poker is king in Las Vegas from early May until July. The main event is always the big draw at the WSOP, and this year was the second largest field ever at the tournament. The winner is guaranteed to take home $8 million, with all of the final table participants gaining big paydays.Over the past few months, the attention has died down surrounding the main event. That has started to change, with the Rio promoting the return of the November Nine, which will happen in just a few short weeks. In the meantime, the participants have spent the past few months perfecting the skills they hope will bring them a main event gold bracelet.Martin Stasko will either be the most pressurized player at the table, or the most confident, when play resumes.Stasko will be returning to a final table as the chip leader. The thirty-five year old poker pro is hoping to continue the fine play he showed before the tournament broke in July. Stasko is considered by many to be the best player at the final table.A large portion of the world is represented at the final table. In addition to Stasko, Pius Heinz from Germany, Sam Holden of the UK, Anton Makiievskyi from the Ukraine, Eoghan O’Day of Ireland, and Badih Bounahra from Belize all will try to win gold bracelets representing their respective countries. The US also has its share of players that can take home the title. Ben Lamb was a fan favorite when he made his way through the early stages of the tournament. Lamb is from Tulsa, Oklahoma. The other two players will possibly have the largest cheering sections when play resumes, both calling Las Vegas home. Matt Giannetti and Phil Collins (no relation to the singer) will be attempting to keep the WSOP main event championship in Sin City.Play begins again at the Rio on November 6th, and will continue until a champion is crowned. The tournament is scheduled to end on November 8th. ESPN will be airing the final table footage once the event comes to an end. The final table will also be streamed live on the Internet, with a slight delay to ensure the integrity of the tournament.

The WPT gets even better with more tournaments
by Thursday,8 Sep 2011 The WPT are to hold 5 additional tournaments in the 2011/12 season which are to be screened by Fox Sports The best poker tour in the world just got even better with the addition of five new tournaments to each season. The World Poker Tour (WPT) will now be stopping at two additional cities in the USA and another three in Europe. Jacksonville, Florida and Philadelphia in Pennsylvania are the two new tournaments being held in the US with Malta, Prague in the Czech Republic and Ireland playing host to the new tournaments on the massive poker tour. Season X of the WPT kicked off with the WPT Spain, held in Barcelona in May and has been moving from strength to strength ever since. The extra tournaments reflect just how popular the WPT has become all around the world. Since former US online poker professionals have been moving away from the USA in order to continue to practise their trade the extra stops will make it that much easier for the pros to make it to at least one or two of the tournaments over the course of the season. Since online poker was effectively taken away from US players interest in being able to watch the pro players at work has exploded with various television networks cashing in on the demand to watch high stakes poker. The WPT has been no exception to this with Fox Sports Net (FSN) showing the tournaments in their entirety and will be broadcast from the start of 2012. As well as the tournaments being screened there will also be two, one hour specials looking behind the scenes of the WPT and poker in general. This will compete with ESPNs coverage of the final table of the World Series of Poker (WSOP) as well as the poker covered by other television networks. Along with the new tournaments the WPT have also announced the formation of a Champions club which will afford special perks to all players who have won a WPT event. These perks include a personal concierge as well as VIP treatment at all WPT events. On top of this there is also a WPT champions cup engraved with the name of every WPT champion as well as a crystal trophy for the WPT player of the year. The first of these crystal trophies is to be awarded to Andy Frankenberger the season IX player of the year.

Big name talent prepares for poker awards
by Tuesday,6 Sep 2011 The British Poker Awards are an excellent showcase for the massive talent that Britain has produced The British Poker Awards are getting closer and closer and the jury is still out as to which players are most likely to win. With a sterling performance from UK players at the World Series of Poker (WSOP) 2011 it is likely that there are going to be some new names mixed in with the old favourites. Players such as Jake Cody had a massive WSOP, winning over $800,000 for taking the winners bracelet in the $25,000 heads up no limit hold em event. He has the nomination for Best Tournament Player and Best Online Player. These are going to be difficult to win however as there are some massive poker names nominated alongside him in the form of Sam Trickett and Roberto Romanello for the title of Best tournament Player. Trickett first shot to poker fame during the 2010 WSOP where he cashed in no less than 6 separate events and then went on to storm his way through Asia, first at the Aussie millions and then in China when he won a reputed one and a half million dollars from high stakes cash games alone. More recently he just made 11th place at the Epic Poker Leagues (EPL) inaugural tournament for a prize of just under $50,000. Roberto Romanello is making a name for himself on the European Poker circuit. He won the World Poker Tour (WPT) Bratislava event earlier this year for a prize of $197,000 and the EPT Prague last year for a prize of $846,000. Managing to maintain the momentum, Trickett has been nominated in three categories this year. As well as the nomination for best Best Tournament Player he has the nominations for Best Cash Player and Best Social Media User. The Best cash Player is a massive title to win, other nominees include Roland de Wolfe and Richard Ashby. De Wolfe is a well known celebrity after having been playing on televisions Late Night Poker and at one point was the UKs highest earning poker player. He is also the first player ever to win both WPT and EPT events which he did in 2006. Ashby holds a WSOP winners bracelet for taking the seven card stud event in 2010, he also won the Aussie millions. The field of British poker pros is really an ever expanding pool of some really big names and it seems that there are always new players coming along to make it look easy.

Lock Poker is making waves with the Malta LGA
by Sunday,18 Sep 2011 Despite the fact that their logo appears on the Lock Poker website the Malta LGA says they are not affiliated The Poker industry has had more than its fair share of scandals, what with the events of April the 15th or Black Friday and the Full Tilt Poker scandal that rocked the online poker world one would have thought that there have been enough shady goings on to last a life time. Apparently Lock Poker disagree, they are currently in a spat with the Malta Licensing Authority as they have been displaying their logo on the Lock Poker website for some time despite the fact that according to the Maltese gaming authority the appearance on the Lock Poker site of their logo is both false and misleading. After looking into the matter a little more deeply it can be understood where the poker site may have made their mistake. Lock Poker belongs to the Merge Gaming Network which does, in fact, have a category four gaming license that was issued to them by the Lotteries and Gaming Authority (LGA) of Malta. Lock Poker may have assumed that because the network was certified by the LGA then that would extend to them. The LGA have been very forceful in underlining the fact that this is absolutely not the case and the errant poker room are likely to come under massive pressure to remove the logo from both the Maltese authorities and their own network. The precise statement from the LGA was as follows; The Lotteries and Gaming Authority (the Authority’) would like to inform the public that the websitehttp://lockpoker.eu/ has no connection whatsoever with the Authority and therefore any mention of the Authority or licence issued by the Authority on the mentioned website is false and misleading. There isnt much room for interpretation from a statement like this, it is pretty clear what the situation is. The Maltese authority doesnt just have a very loud bark but an extremely tough bite as well. They havent hesitated to suspend and/or cancel the licenses of gaming companies that they have found to be in breach of their own rules. The list of suspended gaming sites is long and illustrious with the Betonbet, Gold Victory, Betchance and many more suspended sites able to vouch for this. Lock Poker are going to have to remove the logo or continue to face the wrath of the Maltese LGA one of the most respected gaming authorities in the world.

Bet365 plans to go Australian with a gaming license
by Tuesday,30 Aug 2011 In order to apply for an Australian gaming license Bet365 have closed their site catering to players in the territory In an interesting turn of events the UK based online bookies, Bet 365, have closed down their Australian poker site in the lead up to their bid to gain an online sports license in the country. Players with the site were sent an email saying; Were in the process of applying for a sports betting licence in Australia. As part of our preparations for this, we regret to inform you that our Casino, Poker, Games and Bingo sites will no longer be available from week commencing 22nd August. Any funds currently in your Casino, Poker, Games and Bingo balances will be transferred to your Sports balance. Our Sports site will continue to work as normal. Please accept our apologies for any inconvenience this may cause.”There is some doubt as to whether or not the company are still taking sports bets from Australian clients at the moment. Were this the case it would undoubtedly make it much harder or almost impossible for them to procure their betting license as they would be accepting bets in contravention of the current Interactive Gambling Act. Should they fall on the wrong side of the law they risk losing their credibility, customers and any potential in the country. The journalist Patrick Smith, writing in The Australian reported that; Under the Interactive Gambling Act provisions, any person found guilty of providing a prohibited service is liable to a fine of $110,000 a day and any company up to $1.1 million a dayThe lack of action by the AFP [Australian Federal Police] continues despite Australian Crime Commission advice that internationally the integrity of professional sports has been compromised, with organised criminal groups targeting the sector. The joint chief executive of Bet365, Denise Coates has said that I can confirm that we are in the process of applying for a licence in the Northern territory of Australia, once we have submitted the application and the regulatory authorities have had the chance to consider it, we will hopefully be in a position to comment further. The Australian online gaming industry represents a massive market and it is growing fast. Australian gaming has the highest loss per gambling adult in the world according to H2 Gambling Capital. Obtaining an Australian license would provide a huge boost in capital for a huge online gaming monolith like Bet365.

Online Poker is on its way back
by Monday,23 May 2011 Still reeling from the April crackdown online gaming begins lobbying Congress for a change in the law In the wake of the April crackdown on online gaming by US authorities the American Gaming Association (AGA) has begun its lobbying campaign in the US Congress to regulate online poker in the USA. There are plenty of benefits for the US government when it comes to the regulation of online poker and the AGAs support for such regulation serves as a reminder how many US gaming interests would like to get into the online poker market place. The move was announced at a press conference at the National Press Club in Washington DC which was headed by the CEO of the AGA, Frank Fahrenkopf. Several other influential players in the world of online gaming including the President of Boyd Gaming, Keith Smith, The CEO of Ameristar Casinos Gordon Kanofsky and the President of Isle of Capri casino Virginia McDowell were also in attendance. The Associated Press reported Fahrenkopf as arguing that The millions of Americans who are playing poker online deserve to know that they are playing safely, with law abiding operators. Gaming leaders are said to be meeting with various congressmen in the coming days to discuss regulation in detail. The move by the AGA comes while 11 executives in the world of online gaming are under indictment for various charges, including money laundering and fraud. The big three poker sites had their assets and their domains frozen and hundreds of thousands of American poker players are still unable to get access to their funds. This isnt the first time that an attempt has been made to legalise online poker. Senator Harry Reid, representing the state of Nevada attempted to separate online poker from the rest of the online gaming as included in current legislation though his attempt fell flat in Congress. This hasnt stopped the AGA from continuing it the attempt to ensure the legalisation of online gaming in the future. Regulation will see US poker players playing against other players from the US only when they are online. Regulation would also ensure that the US government effectively becomes a partner in the online gaming industry and would take a hefty share of the profits as tax revenue. As it currently stands the world of online poker has lost its major source of players.
